Environmental measures of Gondwana
The lodges of Gondwana Collection Namibia feel part of Mother Nature. Respecting her generosity and to sustain her hospitality permanently, Gondwana is investing in protecting the environment and measures are being taken on an ongoing basis to run the lodges as environmentally friendly as possible:
Water
-Special showerheads or pressure dampers
Wastewater is recycled for use in the garden
-Toilet flushing systems are designed for optimum capacity utilization of the water recycling plant
-Gardens are planted mainly with water-wise indigenous plants, recycled water covers all watering needs
Electricity
-Link to the power grid (effectively generated electricity)
-Geysers equipped with timers against continuous reheating (always leaves enough hot water for several showers)
-Air conditioners with timers
Energy-saving light bulbs
-Gas stoves in the kitchen
Waste
-Kitchen waste is composted or fed to the pigs
-Waste caused by packaging is reduced by bulk purchasing
-Souvenir shop uses paper bags instead of plastic
-Waste is sorted into glass, plastic, metal and paper...and taken to recycling facilities in town (up to 300 km away)
By booking a stay with Gondwana, guests are contributing towards the financing of all these measures.
