Jonathan Jay Pollard (born August 7, 1954 in Galveston, Texas) is a former civilian intelligence analyst who was convicted of spying for Israel. He received a life sentence in 1987.
Israel granted Pollard citizenship in 1995, while publicly denying, until 1998, that he was an Israeli spy. Israeli activist groups, as well as high-profile Israeli politicians, have lobbied for his release. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has voiced particularly strong support for Pollard, visiting the convicted spy in prison in 2002.
Pollard's case was later linked to that of Ben-Ami Kadish, another U.S. national who pleaded guilty to charges of passing classified information to Israel in the same period.
We want for the kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit to be free and we understand the grief of his family. But we believe that trading him for a large number of terrorists will lead to further terror attacks, killings and kidnapping.
Thus we call to look for other ways to release him.

Gilad Shalit (born 28 August 1986) is an Israeli soldier who was captured on 25 June 2006 by Hamas in a cross-border raid. He was abducted near the Kerem Shalom crossing (in Israel), and has been held as a prisoner in the Gaza Strip by Hamas since then – it has been 4 years already…
During the cross-border raid, two Palestinian militants and two IDF soldiers were killed and three others wounded, aside from Shalit, who reportedly suffered a broken left hand and a light shoulder wound after his tank was hit with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG).
He was the first Israeli soldier captured by Palestinian militants. Gilad holds French citizenship, a fact that encouraged France and the European Union to be involved to some extent in efforts to release him.
On the 27th of June 2010, Shalit's parents started a march from their hometown Mitzpe Hila in the Western Galilee, to the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem. The march will end on June 8th; Gilad's parents stated that they would not go home until Gilad was freed.
Gilad is still alive, support his release!
Guy Hever, IDF soldier has been missing since August 17th, 1997. He was last seen on the Golan Heights just one kilometer away from the Syrian border. He was dressed in army fatigues and carried his personal weapon, as customary for all Israeli soldiers, his dog tag and his international military identification papers(Geneva Convention Card). An extensive search was carried out, but there were no results. International and humanitarian organizations, have made great efforts to obtain information on Guy being kept in Syria. In February 2007 a Syrian organization claimed it holds Guy and wants to exchange him for Syrian prisoners being held in Israel. On July 2009 Israel has launched a diplomatic campaign in attempt to obtain any information that Syria possess on Guy Hever. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged that a special representative would be named to oversee the activity undertaken by the defense agencies in the state.

Re: Urgent action - Release of Jonathan Pollard
We wish to congratulate you for the fact that the U.S. President decided to give you the U.S. Medal of Freedom symbolizing the values of justice, freedom and human rights, and got your statement that the Medal is dedicated to the citizens of Israel.
However, precisely because of the higher values represented by this medal, we feel that we can not accept the receipt at the same time that the U.S. still holds in jail Jonathan Pollard for over 27 years even after American officialsalready admit that the continued detention of Jonathan Pollard is contrary to morality and justice.
We ask you to take advantage of this unprecedented diplomatic position to take immediate action for Jonathan's release prior to receiving the medal. Receiving the Medal of Freedom would be a mockery of Jonathan our country.
In anticipation of true freedom.
