This badge is intended to bring awareness and support for those who love a baby or child with Laryngomalacia (or LM for short). Literally "soft larynx", LM is a condition most often found in infancy, but sometimes in those with neuromuscular conditions, where the soft, immature cartilage of the upper larynx collapses inward during inhalation - causing airway obstruction, feeding struggles, stridor, sleep apnea, GERD, cyanosis and a host of other conditions involving the heart and/or lungs.
Most medical professionals, midwives & doulas have little or no awareness of LM, making timely diagnosis & treatment difficult & frustrating. LM Parents have begun to form online support groups sharing information, tips and much needed encouragement.
