LATO & Phamous Fotos Blanket Drive 2011I live in the Chinatown part of Downtown Los Angeles, I search the area on a daily basis for movie sets to photograph them and I come across a lot of homeless folks. One in particular is an older fella named Sam. He cleans car windows to make a few bucks and is homeless. He doesn't mind, He told me as long as he has his little radio and can stay busy, he's happy. It would break my heart to see him standing out there though. I once asked him why he doesn't sit and he told me the cold concrete hurts so I gave him one of my $5 dollar fold out stools. The other day I asked how he was and he had been sick and mostly cold. He asked if I had a spare blanket and that's when I started my little blanket drive. I'm happy to say that because of some very thoughtful friends Sam now has a thick comforter but, there are others. I asked my friend Leyna if she had blankets and now.. Phamous Fotos and Leyna's charity http://www.loveacrosstheocean.org/ has teamed up to get even more blankets! With her help I'm sure the modest 50 blankets I was shooting for will go up! I will announce times and places when we'll come out to pick up blankets but if you happen to be in the Chinatown/Downtown area please let us know!0 supporters -
